Director’s Notes: What natural selection did to the Homo sapiens was create a blood investment for the privilege of living life on this planet. Our children force us to care for them and ultimately the world they will inherit. This sacred biological sacrament allows for us to care about our intentions our actions and ultimately our future– beyond our own life. As Nero Scientist Paul King explains, “Is that reproduction…provides a way of starting over with a ‘clean slate’ and slightly different genes. Given that biology has selected this strategy, evolution has optimized for producing the most successful offspring. “We cannot help it—it’s in our DNA. We are our past, present and future. Our current reality was an attempt at a more romantic vision from our parents’ cells. Human history, all 3 billion years of its various versions, has continued to fight for a world so their offspring could survive and prosper. This is our inner self at the molecular level trying to search for the Promise Land. Hoping that one day we will have some version of ourselves living in the land of Milk and Honey. So it is safe to say that that no matter what comes our way we are going to be ok because we as the Human Race have something inside of us that is perfect, a holy that will continue to exist. Amidst this crazy world (and it feels so crazy right now) that stands “moment by moment on the razor edge of danger and must be fought for”… all we can ask for is a chance to build new worlds. As Mr. Antrobus says in Act III “God has always given us that second chance, and has given us the voices to guide us: and the memory of our mistakes to warn us.” – Matt Murphy
